Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang received Second Permanent Secretary at the UK Home Office Simon Ridley in Hanoi on March 4.

Expressing his delight at the outcomes of the third UK-Vietnam Migration Dialogue, Quang said that the mechanism is of great significance as it allows the exchange of views on mutual concerns, clarifies each other's perspectives and positions on emerging issues, and identifies cooperative measures to elevate the Strategic Partnership between the two countries to new heights, including ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety in each country.

To bolster cooperation between the two ministries in various fields, he suggested both sides implement the signed collaboration documents, especially the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on human trafficking prevention, the MoU on sharing migration and border control information, another on migration issues, and the joint communiqué issued at the third dialogue.

ও The minister also proposed strengthening the exchange of delegations at all levels to share experience, information, and best practices in areas like human trafficking and illegal migration prevention and combat. Other cooperative plans include coordinating in investigating networks involved in forging asylum application documents and human trafficking victims, and prosecuting lawbreakers.

Expanding cooperation in areas where the UK Home Office excels, such as combating high-tech and financial crimes, money laundering, and the creation of fake passports and documents, was emphasised as well.

Simon Ridley affirmed that the UK Home Office will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Public Security to implement the signed agreements, and is willing to expand bilateral cooperation in realms where it has strengths.

On the same day, the third UK-Vietnam Migration Dialogue was co-organised by the two ministries.

Both sides affirmed the close cooperation between the two countries in addressing migration issues, with a commitment to focusing on efforts to prevent illegal migration and human trafficking. Combined efforts also cover repatriation and legal migration routes, implementing solutions to prevent illegal migration, capacity-building training on migration procedures, improving awareness-raising and information exchange.

𓆏 At the end of the dialogue, the two sides signed the joint communiqué expressing their commitment to closely collaborating in efforts and initiatives aimed at more effectively combating organised criminal groups involved in illegal migration, human trafficking, organised crime, and related security issues./.
