Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam U23 football team defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-0 in a friendly match on October 17 , the second of its kind aheadthe upcoming AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers.
In the first half of the game, Vietnam was awarded apenalty after an illegal tackle from Kyrgyzstan’s Uulu on Xuan Tu of Vietnam.Van Do took a successful free-kick to score the opener 38 minutes into thegame.
Van Dat doubled the gap just five minutes after halftime, which encouraged the Vietnamese players to perform even better in the remaining timeof the match. It was also Dat to score another goal in the 60th minute, sealing a convincing 3-0 victory for Vietnam.
The win is a positive signal for Vietnam U23 team whois expected to see a bumpy road ahead./.
Vietnam are in Group I of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Asian Cup qualification, together with Myanmar, Hong Kong (China) and Taiwan (China), according to a draw held in Malaysia on July 9.
The Vietnamese U23 football team has been ranked eighth in the Asian region, according to the latest rankings as announced by global football website Footy Rankings.
Head coach Park Hang-seo on July 27 sent the Vietnam Football Federation a list of footballers who will join an upcoming training session of the U22’s team to prepare for the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualification.
Vietnam will have to compete against only Myanmar and Chinese Taipei in Group I of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022 qualifiers following a redraw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 11.
