Vietnam to receive US aid for flu vaccine production

The Vaccine News Daily, an internet newswire based in Chicago , saidthat the funding is provided by the Biomedical Advanced Research andDevelopment Authority (BARDA) under the US Department of Health andHuman Services.

It will be channeled through the World Health Organisation to help thecountries prepare for eventual licensure and commercial-scalemanufacturing of influenza vaccines.

Under the programme, BARDA has offered an award to the Programme forAppropriate Technology in Health (PATH) to support the enhancement ofsustainable influenza vaccine production in Vietnam .

PATH, an international nonprofit global health organisationheadquartered in Seattle , Washington , will collaborate with theVietnamese government and vaccine manufacturers to assist theproduction and clinical development of safe and effective influenzavaccines./.
