Vietnam to kick off 2020 AFC Futsal campaign next month

Vietnam will start their 2020 AFC Futsal Championship campaign with an opening match against Tajikistan on February 26, according to the detailed schedule of group-stage fixtures recently announced by the Asian Football Federation (AFC).

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam will start their 2020 AFC Futsal Championshipcampaign with an opening match against Tajikistan on February 26, according to thedetailed schedule of group-stage fixtures recently announced by the AsianFootball Federation (AFC).

Vietnam are in Group A which comprises Oman, Tajikistan and host Turkmenistan.

Two days after the opener against Tajikistan, Vietnam will play Oman, whom theydefeated 3-1 in the PTT Thailand Five friendly tournament. Host Turkmenistanwill be the final challenge for the Vietnamese team in the group stage, as thetwo will face on March 1.

All the matches of the 2020 AFC Futsal Championship will take place at the MartialArts Gymnasium in Ashgabat.

In preparation for the AFC campaign, Vietnam’s futsal team will practise at theThai Son Nam Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City before leaving for an overseastraining camp in Spain on February 9. The entire team will travel toTurkmenistan on February 19.

The top five teams of the continental championship in Turkmenistan will qualifyas the AFC representatives for the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.Vietnam expect a World Cup ticket via the tournament./.
