Vietnam to host 2019 AFC U19 Women’s Champ qualifiers

Hanoi (VNA) – The Asian FootballConfederation (AFC) has allowed Vietnam to host the Group E qualificationmatches for the 2019 AFC U19 Women’s Championship, announced the VietnamFootball Federation (VFF) on October 18.
The qualifiers of Group E will take place on October 24, 26, and 28 with teamsfrom Jordan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam all competing.
Meticulous preparation for the event has been made by the VFF.
Twenty-three Malaysian players arrived in Hanoi on October 17 for training andfriendship matches with Vietnamese U17 and Hanoi’s U19 teams. The Jordanian andSingaporean teams will arrive on October 20 and 22, respectively.
Host Vietnam are scheduled to face Malaysia in the opening match on October 24,Singapore on October 26, and Jordan on October 28.
The qualifying round consists of 27 teams, including the hosts of the event’sfinal round, Thailand. They are divided into six groups and will play in a round-robinformat in the group stage to decide winners and two best second-placed teams.The top eight teams of the first qualifier round will progress to the secondround, where the four top teams will then advance to the finals, together withJapan, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China, and Thailand. –VNA
Vietnam’s national women’s football team will face Myanmar in the third place play-off at the 2018 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship after losing 2-4 to Australia’s U20 team.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio held a ceremony in Hanoi on July 30 for Vietnam’s national women’s football team before they head to Japan’s Mimasaka city from August 1-11 to train in preparation for the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD 2018).
Women’s football will be the first event of the Asian Games 2018 (ASIAD 18) to be held in Palembang of Indonesia, promising a treat for football fans there.
