Vietnam to export cholera vaccine

As many as 10,000 doses of oral cholera vaccine manufactured by the Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No1 (VABIOTECH) under the Ministry of Health (MoH) will be shipped to the Philippines, according to the company’s Director Do Tuan Dat.

Datsaid experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) will revise thequality of the vaccine in order to include it in the global vaccinestockpile.

In Vietnam , about 200,000 doses areused every year under the national expanded immunisation programme toprevent cholera in vulnerable areas, he added.

Vietnam is able to produce 12 different types of vaccine for 10 outof 12 diseases covered by the national expanded on immunisationprogramme.

In the coming time, domestic vaccinemanufacturers will focus on researching and developingmultifunctional vaccines, according to the Department of PharmaceuticalManagement.-VNA
