Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will do its utmost foꦇr the success of the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, which are of great significan♔ce for ASEAN as the official formation of the ASEAN Community is nearing.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung made the affirmation at an interview he granted to the press ahead of the events slated for November 21-22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the summit, Vietnam and other ASEAN members will review the implementation of the Roadmap for ASEAN Community Building for 2009-2015 and draw lessons from the process for better carrying out the ASEAN Community Vision to 2025 and the bloc’s blueprints in the time ahead. Vietnam will show high responsibility at the events to contribute to raising consensus and solidarity within the bloc, helping ASEAN strongly develop and carry forward its leading role in the region, particularly in strategic issues regarding regional peace, security, stability and development, Deputy Minister Trung said.
He added that Vietnam will also actively propose measures to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and its partners, especially in areas of shared interests, during the upcoming 27 th ASEAN Summit. According to the Deputy FM, the meetings draw the great interest of not only ASEAN citizens but people worldwide as they take place on the threshold of the birth of the ASEAN Community, marking a milestone in the group’s evolvement. Among documents to be adopted by ASEAN leader during the summit are the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2015 and the Declaration on the ASEAN Vision 2025. The signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2015 will officially gives birth to the ASEAN Community, he said, emphasizing that it is the fruit of the 10-member group’s ceaseless efforts over the past nearly half century. ASEAN has grown from a loose group with an insignificant voice into a community of solidarity and extended connectivity that plays a crucial role to peace, stability and prosperity in the region, and is an indispensable partner of major powers and organisations in other regions.
Meanwhile, the Declaration on the ASEAN Vision 2025 demonstrates ASEAN leaders’ resolve and commitment to strengthening and deepening the intra-bloc connectivity in the next ten years. The two declarations will be signed in the witness of leaders of ASEAN’s dialogue partners and the UN General Secretary, which can be seen as the official announcement of the formation of the ASEAN Community, Trung said. Besides, the leaders will approve the ASEAN Vision 2025 and the blueprints on the implementation of the vision on the three pillars: the Political-Security Community, the Economic Community and the Socio-Cultural Community. They are main documents that create the basis, frameworks and orientations for the ASEAN connectivity in the next decade. There will be also the Commemorative Summit marking the 40 th anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand relations, the ASEAN+1 Summit with the US, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), India and the UN, the ASEAN+3 Summit and the East Asia Summit.
At the summits with partners, the leaders will devise measures to continue fostering cooperation between ASEAN and partner countries within the frameworks of the ASEAN+1, the ASEAN+3 and East Asia Summit to utilize the support of the partners for the post-2015 ASEAN Community building. They will also make commitments to contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in the region, which are the common aspirations of ASEAN nations, including Vietnam.-VNA
