Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has signed a decision approvinga development programme for unbaked construction materials in Vietnam to 2030.
The programme aims to promote the production and use of unbaked buildingmaterials to replace fired clay bricks, effectively useagricultural land resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmentalpollution, and make use of waste from industries.
Underthe programme, attention will be paid to stepping up the production and use ofunbaked building materials to replace about 35-40 percent of the total bakedclay bricks by 2025, and 40-45 percent by 2030; ensuring the regulated rate ofusing unburned construction materials in construction works.
It also aims to reduce CO2 emissions by over 2.5 million tonnes per year by 2025 and by over 3 million tonnes per year by2030.
Accordingly, attention will be paid to applying modern production technologiesin production, and producing large-sized unbaked building materials productsand light products based on the availability of raw material supplies and market demands.
𝔉 The programme will also promote quality control of unburntbuilding material products to meet standards and regulations, and theinspection of the implementation of relevant regulations and legal documents inorder to foster the production and use of unburnt building materials./.
A boom in the production of clay bricks has worsened air quality in the Mekong Delta and the overexploitation of clay has severely affected arable land.
Buildings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with more than 30 percent of funding sourced from the state budget capital, non-budget state capital and loans from State-invested businesses must use 100 percent non-baked building materials.
Unbaked construction materials are targeted to account for 30-40 percent of all materials used for building by 2020, according to a circular that has been approved by the Government.
