A delegation of officials from several ministries made a working trip to Thailand on August 13 and 14 during which the two sides agreed to intensify labour cooperation. The delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam and including representatives of the Ministry of Public Security and the Minister of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs, had working sessions with relevant Thai ministries and sectors.
During the sessions, the two sides exchanged views on ways to deepen Vietnam-Thailand relations across the board on the basis of the joint statement on strengthening the two countries’ strategic partnership issued at the third joint Cabinet meeting in Bangkok on July 23 this year. They agreed that the cooperation will focus on joint activities to mark the 40th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2016, labour cooperation, road, maritime and aviation connectivity, prevention of illegal fishing in each other’s seas, and exchanges between the Governments.
Deputy Minister Nam also asked the Thai Government to continue creating the best possible conditions for Vietnamese expatriates to work and contribute to the host nation as well as the cooperation and amity between the two countries. With regard to labour affiliation, the two sides concurred to early implement agreements inked on the occasion of the recent joint Cabinet meeting, including a memorandum of understanding on labour cooperation and an agreement on labour recruitment, thus directly benefiting workers and their business circles, which is also a practical move to prepare for the formation of the ASEAN Community at the end of 2015.-VNA
