Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has promptly worked with relevant Taiwanese agenciesto handle a fishing vessel accident with some Vietnamese on board, of whom oneremains unaccounted for.
Theinformation was released by the Vietnam Foreign Ministry’s Consular Departmentconcerning the Taiwanese-flag No 6 Sheng Fu fishing vessel. The ship ran intoan accident when it was approaching the Nan Ya port in New Taipei City, Taiwan(China), on December 8.
Thedepartment said at the time of the accident, ten people were on board thevessel, including five Vietnamese nationals. Nine people have been rescued onthe day, with the remaining one, who is Vietnamese, still unaccounted for. Ofthe four rescued Vietnamese workers, one was severely injured and is hospitalised.
Taiwanesesearch and rescue units are working to find the missing person but facingdifficulties due to dreadful weather. Investigation is underway to figure outreasons behind the incident.
Thedepartment noted that the Vietnamese economics and culture office in Taipeiwill continue collaborating with the Taiwanese side to search for the missingman and provide necessary citizen protection measures to ensure the Vietnameseworkers enjoy their legitimate rights and benefits.-VNA
