Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of NaturalResources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan presented three proposals of Vietnam inhis remarks at the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment (AMME), held in Vientiane on August 23.

Accordingly, the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) should enhance regional solidarity and action to build a strongcommunity in the face of challenges such as climate change, environmentalpollution, and biodiversity loss. Just and comprehensive transition must be atop priority in the process toward net-zero emissions, energy transition, andplastic waste management, creating momentum for a greener bloc. In addition, itis necessary to promote cooperation with partners to mobilise support in termsof institution, technology, and finance to build a sustainable and resilientASEAN community.

The head of Vietnam's organisation of ASEAN SeniorOfficials on Environment (ASOEN Vietnam) stressed that recognising theimportance of community development and prosperity, Vietnam commits tocollaborate with ASEAN and development partners to contribute to globalcollective efforts and actively participate in the community's common goals.

The 17th AMME is an important occasion for blocmember states to jointly propose solutions and key orientations for ASOEN'sincreasingly practical and effective activities, contributing to achievingsustainable environmental goals within the framework of the 2025 ASEANSocio-Cultural Community Blueprint and Community Vision, and realising theUnited Nations' Sustainable Development Goals by 2030./.
