Vietnam strives to enter world’s Top 50 in terms of AI by 2030
Vietnam sets a goal of being listed in Top 4 in ASEAN and Top 50 of the world in terms of artificial intelligence (AI) research, development and application by 2030.
Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam sets a goal of being listed in Top 4 inASEAN and Top 50 of the world in terms of artificial intelligence (AI)research, development and application by 2030.
The target was set in a National Strategy on AI Research,Development and Application by 2030 recently approved by Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc.
The strategy aims at stepping up AI research, developmentand application to make it an important technological industry of Vietnam.
By 2030, Vietnam will become a centre for innovation anddevelopment of AI solutions and applications in the Southeast Asian region andthe world. The country aims to build 10 AI brands of high prestige in the region,develop three national centres on big data and high performance computing, andconnect big data and high performance computing centres nationwide into anetwork and form 50 open datasets in all socio-economic fields to better serveAI research, development and application.
Under the strategy, Vietnam will set up three nationalinnovative centres on AI, and have at least one representative in the list ofASEAN’s 20 leading R&D and training facilities in this sphere.
To achieve these goals, the strategy puts forwardorientations, such as building a legal document system and legal corridorrelated to AI, developing an AI ecosystem, and boosting the application of AIand international cooperation in the field./.
According to some reports, Vietnam now ranks 21st in the world in terms of the development of artificial intelligence (AI), which is expected to contribute 12% to the country’s GDP. Many local digital firms have stayed abreast of AI development trends in the world and introduced several high-quality products.
The Prime Minister has issued the National Strategy on the Fourth Industrial Revolution by 2030 to fulfil goals set in the Politburo’s Resolution 52-NQ/TW that outlines policies guiding Vietnam’s active involvement in the revolution.
