Vietnam steps up cooperation with China

The Vietnamese Vice President made the affirmation during a meeting withChinese Vice President Xi Jinping during her working visit to Chinabetween May 19-24 to attend the Global Summit of Women 2010 in Beijing.

Vice President Xi expressed his belief that the visit would contributeto boosting relations between the two countries.

He stated that after the two countries set up the strategic cooperativepartnership in May 2008, cooperation fields between the two countrieshave expanded and yielded new important achievements with politicaltrust increased and cooperative exchange deepened. The settlement of thedemarcation of the Tonkin Gulf and the completion of demarcationand marker planting along the bilateral land border have benefited thetwo countries’ relations and peace, stability and development in theregion, as well as given both siddes good experiences in solvingoutstanding problems.

Xi expressed his belief that with joint efforts, the comprehensivestrategic cooperation between the two Parties and countries would beconstantly developed and diversified.

The two sides also stressed on the importance of the Vietnam-ChinaFriendship Year 2010, describing the year as an occasion to organiseactivities to strengthen the friendship, solidarity and cooperationbetween the two countries, thus developing the Vietnam-Chinacomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new height in linewith the interests and aspiration of the two peoples.

Meeting with the President of the All China Women's Federation (ACWF)Chen Zhili, Vice President Doan congratulated the ACWF for successfullyorganising the Global Summit of Women 2010. The two sides agreed that astronger cooperation between the Vietnam Women’s Union and the ACWFwould contribute to expanding ties between the two countries, as well aspromoting international integration of both nations.

The Vice President also received Wang Jiarui, Chief of the InternationalLiaison Department of the Communist Party of China and agreed with himon the need to make full use of the current cooperative mechanism andboost cooperation exchanges between the two Parties and countries,especially in Party building, State management and personnel training.

Attending the Vietnam-China business forum, Doan stated that theeconomic, trade and investment relations between the two countries sawnew development over the past years. She noted that China has beenVietnam ’s leading trade partner for many years and the VietnameseGovernment always welcomes and creates favourable conditions for Chinesebusinesses to invest in the country.

She expressed her hope that trade turnover between the two countrieswould reach 25 billion USD in 2010.

While in China , Vice President Doan paid a floral tribute to PresidentMao Zedong at his mausoleum and visited some cultural and scientificand technological establishments in Beijing . She also visitedDalian city in Liaoning province./.
