Vietnam shows best-ever performance at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

Hanoi (VNA) – All theseven Vietnamese students competing at theAsia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2022 pocketed medals, including three golds,the Ministry of Education and Training reported on June 1.
Withthree gold and four silver medals, Vietnam ranked third among the 35participating countries and territories at the event, following China, andRussia.
This isthe best-ever performance of Vietnam at the contest, the ministry noted.
The gold medalists are TruongVan Quoc Bao, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau highschool for gifted students in the central province of Nghe An; Duong Minh Khoi andTran Xuan Bach from the high school for gifted students in natural sciencesunder the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).
FifteenVietnamese contestants competed online at the VNU University of Engineering andTechnology on May 22.
Thevirtual APIO 2022, hosted by Egypt, gathered 888 contestants, 186 of whom werenominated for medals./.
Six Vietnamese students won five silver and one bronze medals at the 2017 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, an online programming competition hosted by Australia on May 13.
All six members of the Vietnamese team competing at the 13th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2020 online have won medals, the Ministry of Education and Training said on August 22, citing sources from the event’s host Indonesia.
