According to theTraffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, up to 1,854 traffic accidents occurred nationwide from November15, 2022 to January 12, 2023, killing 1,026 people and injuring 1,323 others, a decrease of 6.12%, 3.84% and 6.10%, respectively, from two months earlier.
Of the total, there were 1,838 road accidents, claiming1,015 lives and injur🍌ing 1,319 others, down 6.17%, 3.43% and 6.25%, respectively. Fifteen accidents happened on railway, killing 11 persons andinjured three others.
Meanwhile one person was killed in a waterway accident. Traffic police officers acrossthe country handled a total of 521,000 traffic law violations and imposed finesworth 1 trillion VND (42.6 million USD). They also temporarily seized more than 6,600 cars,128,420 motorcycles and 15 waterway vehicles./.
Traffic accidents in the first nine months of this year dropped by 52.5% (4,362 cases) to 8,313 and related deaths reduced by 20% (945 deaths) to 4,714 compared to the same period in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
Twenty six traffic accidents occurred nationwide on December 31 - the first day of the 2023 New Year holidays (December 31-January 2), killing 14 people and injuring 11 others, according to the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department.
Eighty-three traffic accidents happened in the three days of the New Year, killing 50 people and injuring 51 others, an increase of 29.7%, 31.6% and 45.7%, respectively, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
