Moscow (VNA) – As part of his official visit to Russia, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also Chairman of Vietnam’s National Defenceand Security Council, met with Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the SecurityCouncil of Russia and Chairman of the ruling United Russia party, on December 1afternoon (local time).
Welcoming Phuc’s visit, Medvedev said that the visit willopen up a new stage of the stronger and more comprehensive and effective developmentof the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. He affirmed the SecurityCouncil of Russia will continue backing and promoting bilateral cooperation inall fields.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction at a high level of trust in thebilateral political relationship, which is a basis forstrengthening cooperation and achieving positive results in strategic fieldssuch as defence, security, energy and oil and gas.
They agreed to further promote the bilateral cooperation in all fields,including cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Defence and Ministry ofPublic Security and the Security Council of Russia, thus contributing to firmlyensuring independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country,and for peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
The two leaders appreciated the close and reliablecooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and United Russia, withregular delegation exchanges and meetings maintained within both bilateral andmultilateral frameworks.
They affirmed that collaboration between the two parties plays an importantrole in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, andwelcomed the signing of the two parties’ cooperation plan for 2022-2024 withinthe framework of this official visit by the Vietnamese President./.
