Vietnam returns to the International Fair of Algiers (FIA) in Algeria this year, showcasing a variety of products in agriculture, handicraft, clothing, telecommunication and fine arts that are seeking inroads into the local market.

Algiers (VNA) – Vietnam returns to theInternational Fair of Algiers (FIA) in Algeria this year, showcasing a varietyof products in agriculture, handicraft, clothing, telecommunication and finearts that are seeking inroads into the local market.

The 51st FIA, which will run through May 13, hosts fiveVietnamese exhibitors including the Hanoi Trade Corporation (Hapro),military-run telecom group Viettel, Anh Tuyet clothing company, handicraftretailer Hien Sarl and Vietnamese painter Nguyen Minh Son.

Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia attended theevent’s opening ceremony on May 8 and visited the Vietnam booths where he had atalk with Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quoc Tru.

Rice, pepper, cashew nuts and coffee are among Vietnamesesignature agricultural products on display at the exhibition of Hapro.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Minh Son exhibits 15 of his oilpaintings depicting the charm of Hanoi and northern rural villages. Hisexhibition pulled in a large crowd of audience on the opening day, includingthe Algerian PM, local senior officials and foreign diplomats in Algiers.

On May 13 – 14, the Embassy of Vietnam and the AlgerianMinistry of Culture will hold an exhibition of painter Nguyen Minh Son’s worksat Palace of Culture Moufdi Zakaria in Algiers, as part of the Vietnam –Algeria cultural exchange programme between 2016 and 2018.

According to Ambassador Tru, the FIA is a goodopportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to promote their signature productsamong consumers in Algeria and other African countries. It is expected tosupport the enhancement of the two countries’ trade and cooperation in thecoming time.

This year, the International Fair of Algiers attractedmore than 700 Algerian and foreign businesses, including those from China whoare honorable guests of this event. On display are products in agriculture andfood processing, energy, chemistry and petro-chemistry, electricity andelectronics, mechanics and metallurgy, construction and services.

Last year, four Vietnamese enterprises, among some 500foreign exhibitors from 34 countries, came to the fair. They mostly broughtfarm produce, souvenir and clothing products.-VNA
