Vietnam rejects report of Committee to Protect Journalists

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam absolutelyrejects false contents, which are based on inaccurate and biased informationabout Vietnam, of a report released by the Committee to Protect Journalists(CPJ), the Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has said.
Hang made the statement at a regular press conference in Hanoi on September 12 whileresponding to reporters’ queries regarding the CPJ’s report that includedVietnam in the list of ten most censored countries.
“In Vietnam, the freedom of speech in general and the freedom of the press inparticular are prescribed specifically in the 2013 Constitution and manyrelevant legal documents,” she affirmed.
The country is making efforts to perfect its legal system in order to ensurethe freedom of speech on the media, cyber space and other forms, while protecting people fromnews that is fake, not suitable to Vietnamese habits and customs, biased andinaccurate, and stirs up hatred, Hang added./.
