𓃲 – Vietnam reported no new COVID-19 cases on May 24evening, marking it 38 straight days the country has detected no new infections in the community.

The country has to date confirmed 325 COVID-19 infection cases, of them185 were imported ones and quarantined right after they entering Vietnam,according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention andControl. As many as 15,412 people having close contact with confirmed patients orentering Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions have been quarantined, including 58at hospitals, 8,523 at concentrated quarantine establishments and 8,631 athome. Up to 267 patients, or 82 percent of the total, have been given theall-clear while 58 others are undergoing treatment at medical establishmentsacross the country. Seven patients were tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2once and four others tested negative twice or more./.

♋ Sharp tobacco tax hike urged to safeguard youths, community health

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

༒ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
