Vietnam ranks third at int’l technology contest

The Vietnamese delegation finished third at the Intel International Science and Technology Fair (Intel ISEF), which took place from May 13-19 in Los Angeles, the United States.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamesedelegation finished third at the Intel International Science and TechnologyFair (Intel ISEF), which took place from May 13-19 in Los Angeles, the UnitedStates. 

The Ministry of Education and Training welcomedthe delegates home on May 24 in Hanoi.

The Vietnamese team bagged five awards,including third prize for a prosthetics arm project by Pham Huy, an 11th graderfrom a high school in the central province of Quang Tri. 

The others were four fourth prizes in systemsoftware, chemistry and embedded software. 

The Intel ISEF is the biggest internationalpre-college science competition, attracting some 1,800 high school studentsaround the world every year to compete in 22 categories.

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
