To meet the increased travel demand during Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake), the railway sector is introducing additional train services and continuing to offer ticket discounts for passengers.

Vietnam Railway will launch a cargo transport platform on August 10 with an aim of creating favourable conditions for customers to select the railway transport services.

With its positive achievements in 2023, the railway sector is working to enhance service quality, improve passenger support policies, and adjust business strategies for better performance in 2024 and following years.

A total 152 trains have been suspended as travel demand plummets due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, leaving the railway sector facing losses of 90 billion VND (3.8 million USD) since the outbreak began, according to the Ministry of Transport.

To mitigate losses caused by COVID-19, besides tightening their belts, businesses have also mapped out other solutions.

Vietnam Railway (VNR) has issued several preventative solutions in response to the increasing number of train accidents, with 27 train accidents left 17 people dead and 23 others injured in July 2019 alone.

Vietnam Railway (VNR) aims to accelerate its growth to a rate of 8 percent in 2019 after suffering depression from 2015 to 2017.

Vietnam Railway plans to operate extra trains for Tet (Lunar New Year Festival) from February 2 to March 4 next year.
