
Buenos Aires (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation of the VietnamNational Assembly (NA), led by its Vice Chairman Gen. Do Ba Ty, visitedArgentina from July 17-20 to seek ways to bolster the partnership between thetwo countries and legislatures, as well as exchange experiences in legislative operations.
During the trip, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Vice President cumPresident of the Senate of Argentina Marta Gabriela Michetti, and held talkswith Provisional President of the Senate Federico Pinedo.
The Vietnamese lawmakers also had meetings with Commander-in-Chief ofthe Argentine Armed Forces Gen. Bari Del Valley Sosa, Acting Foreign MinisterDaniel Raimondi, Vice Chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee OmarPerotti, and representatives of the Argentina-Vietnam FriendshipParliamentarians Group.
At the meetings, Ty affirmed Vietnam’s external policy of independence,self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of internationalrelations, with much attention paid to developing strategic ties with Argentina.
He underlined that Vietnam’s NA supports and appreciates the developmentof ties between the two countries, and is willing to promote exchanges andcooperation with the Argentine parliament.
Highlighting the friendship, solidarity, and mutual support betweenVietnam and Argentina, Ty stated that Vietnam has always highly valued the Argentinepeople’s solidarity with Vietnam during its struggle for independence in thepast.
Vietnam wishes to foster its partnership with Argentina in acomprehensive manner and developing cooperation in economy, investment, trade,defence, and security on a par with thesound political relations and potential of both sides, he said.
He thanked Argentina for its support at the UN and other multilateral platforms,affirming that Vietnam is willing to coordinate with Argentina on mechanismsfor common interests and for peace, stability, and development across theworld.
Ty showed his delight at the growing relationship between the twoparliaments over the past years, while suggesting measures to further fosterthe partnership in the future.
The Argentine officials expressed hope to further strengthen the partnershipwith Vietnam both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Michetti said that Argentina is keen on further promoting collaborationwith Vietnam in all fields, pledging that she will direct Argentine agencies tohold meetings with their Vietnamese counterparts to discuss measures to expandbilateral cooperation to other areas such as defence and tourism.
She expressed her belief that the Vietnamese delegation’s visit will helplift up the bilateral relationship and make it more practical and effective.
The Argentine leader also hoped that the two legislative bodies wouldintroduce suitable legal policies to create optimal conditions for businessesof both nations to strengthen their partnerships, thus dealing with theimbalance in bilateral trade.
Meanwhile, both Pinedo and Perotti said that Argentina is ready to workwith the Vietnamese NA in law-building and supervising the implementation ofsigned deals between the two countries and at multilateral forums.
The Senate of Argentina wants to soon organise a visit to Vietnam toforge stronger cooperation between the two legislatures as discussed during theongoing visit.
Valley Sosa and Raimondi lauded the outcomes of the Vietnamesedelegation’s visit. Argentina can support Vietnam in defence personnel trainingand in joining UN peacekeeping operations, they said.
Ty was informed that the Foreign Minister of Argentina will visitVietnam from July 29-31 to discuss the details of areas of cooperation betweenthe two sides.
Within the framework of the visit, the Vietnamese delegation also laidflowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in Buenos Aires.-VNA
