Vientiane (VNA) – Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang on December 25 handed over security equipmenꦿt as gift from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Gov🐻ernment to serve the latter’s ASEAN Chairmanship work in 2016.
The package, worth nearly 220,000 USD, includes two high-speed canoes, four explosives trace detectors and 20 desktop computers and laptops.
Earlier, part of the package was handed over to Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisulith by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at the second foreign ministerial level consultation between Vietnam and Laos held in Hanoi in November.
Vietnam also vowed to have more activities to help Laos intensify its security work to fulfil its role as the Chair of ASEAN.

Twenty five sets of computers worth 317 million VND (13,948 USD) has been presented to the School for Gifted and Ethnic Students in Laos as gifts from Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
