Hanoi (VNA) – Aitomatic founder Dr. Christopher Nguyen underscored Vietnam’s huge opportunities to develop artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor industries while attending the AI-Semiconductor Conference (AISC 2025) which was launched in Hanoi on March 12.

At the event, bringing together over 1,000 leaders and experts from tech giants like Google, NVIDIA, IBM, Meta, Intel, and Samsung, he shared that the Vietnamese Government's efforts to promote AI and semiconductor development demonstrate a right direction aligned with the global technology value chain shift.

AISC 2025 shows the strong interest of the international community and affirms Vietnam as a strategic destination in high-tech fields, he said, adding the combination of national vision and international investment needs from developed economies such as the US, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (RoK) has created significant attractiveness of the event, opening up important opportunities for the development of the AI and semiconductor industries in Vietnam.

Nguyen stated that Vietnam holds a unique position to become a bridge in the AI and semiconductor ecosystem, particularly when many tech powerhouses like Japan, the RoK, and Taiwan (China) want to invest in the country.

Geopolitically, Vietnam has many advantages, he said, elaborating supply chain disruptions and restructuring are helping Vietnam attract more foreign direct investment (FDI). He affirmed that currently, all favourable factors are converging for Vietnam to become an alluring destination for AI investment, and the country needs to capitalise on all opportunities.

Meanwhile, Jonathan London, Senior Economic Advisor at UN Development Programme (UNDP) told the Vietnam News Agency on the sidelines of the conference that Vietnam is making efforts to establish its position in the global AI and semiconductor supply chain. According to him, Vietnam needs to identify areas where it can create competitive advantages amidst dramatic technological and geopolitical changes, and the country has many opportunities for breakthroughs in AI and chip design and packaging.

💖 He noted that one of the highlights discussed at the conference is the future surge in demand for highly skilled workers in this field, while Vietnam has many advantages in supplying quality human resources to the world. Therefore, the key issue now is how effectively Vietnam's education system and science-technology ecosystem can develop to seize these opportunities.

Regarding the Government’s preparation for AI and semiconductor development, London stated that the most important thing is listening to and actively meeting with industry leaders. According to him, this is the time for Vietnam to engage in dialogue with leaders in this field, which is the tremendous value that AISC 2025 brings.

The UNDP advisor said substantial progress should be made to create an attractive environment for talents– a decisive factor to lure investments in the areas.

The five-day conference is taking place in both Hanoi and central Da Nang city, featuring key workshops on the semiconductor and AI technology revolution, exhibitions, investment and business networking, and a policy forum on Vietnam’s AI and semiconductor development in the new era.

༒ Jointly organised by the National Innovation Centre (NIC) and Aitomatic (USA), the international event focuses on the convergence of AI and semiconductors, providing access to cutting-edge information, facilitating cross-border business connections, and affirming Vietnam's role in the global semiconductor and AI industry value chain./.
