A Vietnam-Poland economic forum was held in Hanoi on June 11 to furtherboost the economic-trade relations between the two nations.
Co-organsied by the Embassy of Poland in Hanoi and the Vietnam Chamberof Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the event took place during a Vietnamvisit which stretches from June 10-14 by Polish Deputy Foreign MinisterKatarzyna Kacpercryk.
Addressing the forum,Katarzyna accompanied by representatives of 50 businesses, said thatPolish firms are in Vietnam to not only expand trade ties with theirlocal partners but also to seek opportunities to invest in this marketof 90 million people.
Polish companies boaststrengths in farm produce and food processing and operate effectively inother fields, such as mining and mining equipment, infrastructuredevelopment and pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, she said, addingthey are also proud of advanced technology, product quality andcompetitive prices.
She affirmed that Vietnam is an investment destination Polish businesses are targeting.
According to Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho ThiKim Thoa, despite strong developments in recent years, the multi-facetedcooperation between Vietnam and Poland, especially in economics, isstill falling short of the two nations’ potential.
In the coming time, the two sides should intensify theireconomic-trade relations by opening up new cooperation opportunities,she said.
As Vietnam is focusing on shifting itsworkforce from agriculture to processing industry, a move Poland hasalready completed successfully, Thoa said she hopes that the Europeancountry will invest in the processing of agricultural products and food.
The 60,000-strong Vietnamese community in Polandserves as a bridge for developing economic and trade ties between thetwo countries, she added.
At the forum, the twosides exchanged cooperation opportunities in such areas as finance,insurance, information technology, pharmaceuticals, food, confectionaryand energy, among others.-VNA
