Vietnam peacekeeping force sets out on first mission in South Sudan
The first group of Vietnam peacekeeping force with 30 members set off for South Sudan on October 1 for the nation’s first mission as an independent unit, which is to run a level-2 field hospital in the East Africa country.

HCM City (VNA) – The first group of Vietnam peacekeeping force with 30 members set offfor South Sudan on October 1 for the nation’s first mission as an independent unit,which is to run a level-2 field hospital in the East Africa country.
On November 25, 2014, theDefence Ministry issued a decision to establish the level-2 field hospital witha 70-strong staff, a step to realise the Party and State’s policy on joiningthe United Nations’ peacekeeping activities in the field of humanitarianactivities. Since then, the hospital’s staff have engaged in intensive trainingin accordance with the UN’s standards.
Lieutenant Colonel Bui DucThanh, director of the level-2 field hospital, affirmed that all staff membersof the hospital have met the UN’s requirements on both professional ethics andskills, and are ready for their mission.
Thanh said besides fulfillingthe tasks set by the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, the hospital’sstaffers also aim to serve as messengers of peace from Vietnam and promote thecountry’s image.
Following the signing of aMemorandum of Understanding on Vietnam’s deployment of a field hospital toSouth Sudan in New York on September 26, UN Under-Secretary-General for FieldSupport Atul Khare expressed his belief that Vietnam will deploy a high-qualityhospital that can effectively contribute to the UN’s peacekeeping activities,and his hope for more contributions from Vietnam to this important mission.-VNA

Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh on September 29 assigned tasks to military doctors of Vietnam’s first level-2 field hospital who will travel to South Sudan on October 1 to undertake the UN’s peacekeeping mission.

Known as the “four pillars for Vietnam’s ascend”, the Pobiburo's Resolutions 57, 59, 66, and 68 focus on cultivating a robust national entrepreneurial spirit, unlocking resources for innovation across society, and accelerating the development of digital economy, knowledge-based economy, green economy, and circular economy, propelling Vietnam forward rapidly and firmly on the path of modernisation and international integration.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang cleared up deputies' concern regarding how to spur socio-economic growth, renew traditional growth motives and establish new momentum for development.
Vietnam proposed several priorities: narrowing the digital divide, strengthening women’s leadership in the digital economy and AI governance, and mobilising sustainable financing for gender equality initiatives in line with each country’s national priorities and context.
