Vietnam, Myanmar eye MoU on anti-corruption

Vietnam and Myanmar have agreed to facilitate the sharing of anti-corruption experience towards signing a relevant memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the coming time.

InspectorGeneral Huynh Phong Tranh and Chairman of the Myanmar Commission forAnti-Corruption Mya Win reached the consensus during their recent talksin Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, with both sides as members of the multilateralforum on anti-corruption in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam already signed memoranda of understanding on counter-corruption with 12 countries worldwide.

Mya Win said the signing of the MoU will give a boost to bilateralties in the context of the 40th anniversary of the two countries’diplomatic ties.

Meeting Myanmar Vice PresidentNyan Tun earlier, Tranh asked for his support for the Bank forInvestment and Development of Vietnam to be licensed to operate in thecountry.

Nyan Tun said he backs the sharing ofexperience in combating graft, and Myanmar will gradually adjust reformsin ways that attract more investors.

Two-way tradeneared 480 million USD last year, up 35 percent annually, with Vietnambeing the eighth largest investor in Myanmar.

Receiving the Vietnamese guest, Myanmar Deputy Chief Justice Tun Tun Ooexpressed his hope that both sides will continue sharing experience inthis field.-VNA
