Vietnam Military History Museum hosts fine art exhibition

The Vietnam Military History Museum is opening its door to a national fine art exhibition themed “Armed Forces and Revolutionary War”, the first of its kind in Hanoi, featuring 200 exemplary works, including paintings, graphic art and sculpture by 193 talented artists between 2019 and 2024.

Hanoi (VNA)🥂 – The Vietnam Military History Museum is opening its door to a national fine art exhibition themed “Armed Forces and Revolutionary War”, the first of its kind in Hanoi, featuring 200 exemplary works, including paintings, graphic art and sculpture by 193 talented artists between 2019 and 2024.

In his opening speech on November 15, Director of the museum Col. Le Vu Huy said following the directives of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence and the General Department of Politics, the museum has spearheaded a movement to inspire artworks that reflect the valor and sacrifices of the armed forces. The response has been overwhelming, with 644 entries submitted by 407 artists nationwide, an impressive increase of 150 pieces compared to the previous 2014-2019 period.

The exhibition is a visual feast, featuring a rich tapestry of art forms that vividly narrate the multi-dimensional stories of soldiers in combat, their daily lives, studies and work throughout different historical periods. The artworks also capture the solidarity between the army and civilians, offering a unique perspective through the lens of visual artists, Huy said. Among the highlights are 150 paintings that use a variety of materials and styles, focusing on the themes of national liberation, the determination to achieve independence, and the deep bond between the military and civilians. Notable pieces include the silk painting "Uncle Ho with the Navy by Dang Dinh Nguyen and oil painting “The Road to the Campaign” by Do Kich. Additionally, 30 sculptures crafted from diverse materials are be on display, each telling a poignant story of resilience and unity.

Impressive graphic works are “The Legend of Dong Loc Junction" by Trinh Ba Quat and “On the training ground” by Nguyen Ngan, among others. Many artists also poured their passion and creativity into works inspired by the theme “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Thought, Morality, and Lifestyle”. This theme not only honours the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh but also serves as a reminder of the values that have shaped Vietnam's history.

The event aims to raise awareness among military personnel, citizens and especially the younger generation about the revolutionary tradition, patriotism, national pride, and the determination to safeguard Vietnam’s sovereignty in the modern era. For those unable to attend in person, the museum will provide regular updates about the event on its official website, ensuring that everyone can stay informed and engaged. The exhibition will be open to visitors from November 15, 2024 to March 2025, coinciding with the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People National Defence Day (December 22).
The museum has become a magnet for visitors since its opening, with up to 40,000 visitors per day on weekends, highlighting the public's keen interest in exploring the nation's rich military history and the enduring spirit of its people./. Photos at the event:
