Vientiane (VNA) - Officials of Vietnam anཧd Laos have agreed to further promote all-around ties between the two countries, especially in defence, security, economy, trade, investment, education and culture.
Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, and his Laos counterpart Bounnhang Volachith reached the consensus during their meeting in Vientiane on December 3 during the Vietnamese official’s visit to Laos to attend the celebrations of Laos’ 40th National Day.
The officials informed each other about their respective countries’ recent developments and preparations for the upcoming National Party Congress.
They appreciated coordination between the two nations’ ministries, sectors and localities in effectively implementing agreements reached between the two Parties and Governments, which help deepen the Vietnam-Laos comprehensive cooperation.
The two countries’ increasingly enhanced ties contribute to ensuring political stability and security-defence, and realising socio-economic development goals in both countries, they agreed.
The officials emphasised the need to boost the exchange of high-level visits as well as the sharing of information and experience in Party building while educating Vietnamese and Laos people about the traditional and special relationship between the two nations.
The two sides also discussed plans to prepare for the 38 th session of the Vietnam - Laos Inter-governmental C ommittee for Bilateral Cooperation .
On the occasion, host and guest witnessed the signing of a credit loan contract worth 30 million USD between the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Lao Ministry of Finance.
Earlier, Le Hong Anh visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and met with Vietnamese community and enterprises operating in the country.-VNA
