Vietnam lacquer paintings to be displayed in RoK

An exhibition of lacquer paintings by 14 Vietnamese artists will be held in Ganaisa Art Centre, Seoul, Republic of Korea (RoK) from July 15 to 20.
An exhibition of lacquer paintings by 14 Vietnamese artists will beheld in Ganaisa Art Centre, Seoul, Republic of Korea (RoK) from July 15to 20.

The event, co-organized by Hanoi’s Art Tunnel Galleryand the RoK’s Hansea Vietnam and sponsored by HansaeYes24 Foundation andHansae Fashion Worldwide group, is expected to boost cultural exchangebetween the two countries, and promote Vietnam’s culture to RoK andinternational friends.

Named “Mot thoang son mai Vietnam” ( Vietnamese lacquer at a glance), the event will introduce 42 art works .

TheRoK’s art centre was established in 1983, and from 1991 till now it hasbecome the venue for exhibitions of many famous names of worldwidecontemporary art such as Antoni Tapies, Sam Francis, Jasper Johns,and Roy Lichtenstein.

Due to difficulties intransportation and storage as well as lack of information, Vietnameselacquer is still not widely known and properly appreciated abroad.

GeneralDirector of Art Tunnel Gallery Nguyen Truong Son said it is the firstexhibition of Vietnamese lacquer paintings in the RoK. The country’s artworks have been displayed in the UK and Italy. Lacquer is aspecial type of material extracted from lacquer tree. The use of lacquerbegan in Vietnam in the ancient time. It is often used in makingfurniture, worshiping items and crafts.-VNA

Exhibition features President Ho Chi Minh as fou🦹nde🎐r of Vietnam’s revolutionary press
