Vietnam joins ASEAN bazaar in Argentina

The Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina, in collaboration with diplomatic agencies of Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, organised an annual bazaar on April 21.

Buenos Aires (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina, in collaboration withdiplomatic agencies of Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia,organised an annual bazaar on April 21 to promote cultural exchanges and introduce the nations’ images andpeople.

The bazaarfeatured a wide range of traditional handicrafts, costumes, food and musicalperformances of the ASEAN countries.

Vietnam broughtto the fair lacquer paintings, silk products, conical hats, and local cuisine,with its Wushu performance and an “ao dai” (Vietnamese traditional dress)fashion show receiving the applause from visitors.

Speaking at theopening ceremony, Malaysian Ambassador to Argentina Mod Khalid Abbasi Razaksaid this was an opportunity for the participating countries to introduce itsown images and cultural identities.

He stressed thatsolidarity and cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)as reflected through the organisation of such annual event.

Argentine DeputyForeign Minister Guillermo Raimundi thanked the ASEAN nations for theirinitiative to hold the annual bazaar, which has helped Argentinians learn moreabout the region’s history, culture, people and landscapes.

He said the fairdemonstrates close collaboration and friendship between Argentina and the bloc.

The ASEAN nowgroups 10 member nations, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia,Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
