Vietnam-Japan workshop on building e-Government

Hanoi (VNA) –
Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung andJapanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda co-chaired a workshop in Hanoi onpromoting e-Government building on February 27.

In his opening speech,Minister Dung urged all ministries, sectors and localities nationwide tomobilise all resources for and prioritise the building of e-Government.

He noted that Vietnam gainedimportant results in e-Government building in 2019, including the sending andreception of documents via the National E-Document Exchange Platform (which waslaunched on March 12) and processing of documents online, along with the launchof the e-Cabinet system and the national public service portal.

As of February 25,2020, about 1.3 million e-documents had been sent and received via the nationalexchange platform. Notably, the total number in the 10th month after its launchdoubled that in the first month.

Meanwhile, thenational public service portal has recorded more than 65,900 registrations andover 17 million visits. As many as 1.9 million of dossiers were synchronised inthe portal, of which 11,000 ones were successfully handled online.

Minister Dung said thecountry needs to accelerate the use of digital signatures and online working documentprocessing in the coming time, adding that administrative proceduresimplification and provision of online public services on the national portalare viewed as key tasks to step up the process.

For his part, AmbassadorUmeda said Japan will closely work with Vietnam in building an e-Government.

“We are ready to send experiencedexperts in the field and present equipment to Vietnam for the successful e-Governmentbuilding of the country,” said the diplomat.

At the event, Japaneseexperts shared experiences in building digital government and the informationsystem for official statistics with their Vietnamese counterparts./.
