Vietnam, Japan hold third defence policy dialogue

The third Vietnam-Japan defence policy dialogue took place in Hanoi on January 29, covering world and regional issues of mutual interest and assessing bilateral defence cooperation over the recent past.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lt.Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, while Vice Defence Minister Tokuchi Hideshiheaded the Japanese delegation.

The two sidesagreed that the two ministries will maintain defence policy dialogues atdeputy ministerial level while continue to exchange delegations atdifferent levels. They will also assist each other in personnel trainingand share experience in coping with natural disasters, conductingsearch and rescue and overcoming consequences of bombs and mines left bythe war.

Both sides expressed their wish topromote all-round defence ties in the interests of the two countries’people and for the sake of peace, stability and development in theregion and the world as a whole.

During his stay in Vietnam, the Japanese Vice Minister for Defence will visit several units of the Vietnam People’s Army.-VNA
