Vietnam wants to build a comprehensive and stable defence links with Israel in the spirit of mutual trust, said Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

Deputy Minister Vinh made the statement during his reception for Dan Carmel, former Israeli Defence Attaché to Thailand and Vietnam, and newly-appointed Israeli Defence Attaché to Vietnam Yaakov Taibel on July 28 in Hanoi, the Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) daily reported.

The Vietnamese officer spoke highly of Israel’s decision to open its defence attaché office in Vietnam, saying that the move contributes to laying a solid foundation for boosting the bilateral defence ties.

Dan Carmel affirmed that Israel considers Vietnam an important partner in defence cooperation. He proposed the two countries set up specific plans for fostering their affiliation in the field, and make necessary preparations for their first joint working group meeting on defence scheduled in November in Israel.
