Hanoi (VNA) ꦿ- Vietnam will welcome 4,500 Indian tourists to visit the capital city of Hanoi, Ninh Binh province and Ha Long Bay in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh from late August to early September.

This is one of the major events in a series of programmes to promote the image of Vietnam and its people to international friends, partners, and tourists in 2024. The tourism industry will also host major activities such as Vietnam’s Tourism - Cinema Promotion Programme in the US (the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned Vietravel Company to implement) and the World Travel Market London 2024 (organised by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism - VNAT).

Enhancing Vietnam-India cultural relations and connections

According to data from the VNAT, in 2023, Vietnam welcomed more than 392,000 Indian visitors, an increase of 231% compared to 2019. Notably, in just the first six months of 2024, the number increased dramatically by 164% compared to the same period in 2023. With such impressive growth, India has become one of the 10 largest international tourist sources in Vietnam. This shows that Vietnam is a destination welcoming a strong wave of Indian tourists.
As a travel agency that has had an early plan to market domestic destinations to the Indian market, Marketing Director of the Vietravel Tourism Company Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh said: “Vietravel started activities to promote Vietnam tourism in 2019-2022 with milestones marked by the events ‘Vietnam – A Splendid Destination’ and ‘Vietnam’s Night’ to promote Vietnam tourism to Indian businesses, partners and tourists.” And at the end of August, Vietravel will welcome more than 4,500 tourists from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited - the fourth largest pharmaceutical group in the world - to visit Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Ha Long Bay. “Vietravel is responsible for organizing the reception, implementing travel, dining, accommodation and entertainment to provide the best quality services. The event will mark an important step forward in affirming Vietnam's position as an ideal destination for international events and conferences. With careful preparations and professional services, Vietravel is committed to bringing memorable experiences to distinguished guests, contributing to enhancing the cooperative relationship and cultural connection between the two countries,” Khanh affirmed. She said that the delegation will be divided into six groups, taking flights to Vietnam from August 26-28. Each group is expected to travel for 4-5 days, visiting Hanoi, Ha Long and Ninh Binh. This is the first time the company has welcomed such a large group to Vietnam and Sun Pharma’s boss, one of the billionaires in India, is expected to be present with the delegation.

To welcome the large groups of visitors, most localities have made plans to ensure transport, accommodation, food menus, and train chefs to meet the specific requirements of Indian visitors.

Spreading interesting experiences

This Autumn, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned Vietravel to accompany the Ministry in organizing the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Programme in the US from September 25 and participating in the World Travel Market London 2024. Accordingly, within the framework of the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Programme in the US, Khanh said the company will create a unique space to introduce Vietnam and its people, culture and tourism. It will also organize a workshop to introduce the potential of Vietnam tourism, cinema, and a trade party. At the same time, it will carry out communications for the programme, spreading the beauty of Vietnam in an impressive, synchronous, and consistent way. This is a programme to promote tourist destinations and potential filming locations to attract Hollywood filmmakers to Vietnam to produce movies with great appeal, create international media effects, and draw tourists to Vietnam.
In the promotion of Vietnamese tourism at the World Travel Market London 2024 from November 5-7 in the UK, Vietravel will design a Vietnamese tourism booth to introduce attractive destinations. They will host experience spaces such as making ‘to he’ figurines, painting conical hats, Vietnamese Ao Dai performances, and traditional national musical instruments. "We want to spread the image of Vietnam as an attractive, safe, and friendly destination so that partners and international tourists can enjoy and share wonderful moments and exciting experiences," Khanh stressed./.
