National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung had a meeting with Chairman of the European Parliament (EP)’s International Trade Committee Bernd Lange in Hanoi on August 25, asking for the agency’s continued support to the signing of the Vietnam-EU free trade agreement. He highly valued effective contributions that Lange has made to the growth of the relationship between the EP and Vietnam ’s legislative body, as well as the progress of the Vietnam-EU FTA negotiations that have been officially concluded.
He also expressed his hope that Lange and the EP will continue their assistance for the early signing of the deal. On his part, Lange spoke highly of the signing of various agreements between Vietnam and the EU as well as the two sides’ efforts to approve the FTA. He said he believes that the two sides should speed up and diversify their cooperation mechanisms for better implementation of goals set for the agreement.
He also pledged that his committee will closely supervise the realisation of bilateral deals, including the FTA, while backing the agreements for the deeper bilateral partnership. NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that Vietnam has actively built a legal system, enhanced the government’s management capacity and improving enterprises’ competence to optimise the effectiveness of the FTA. The Vietnam’s NA will also do its utmost so that the FTA as well as the framework Partnership and Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and the EU benefit peoples and businesses of both sides.-VNA
