New Delhi (VNA) – Dao Thi Huong won abronze medal at the 2017 Asia Wrestling Championships which took place from May10-14 in New Delhi, India.
The Vietnamese wrestler defeated her Uzbekistani rival 7-0 in the final of thewomen's 58kg freestyle category.
Previously, on May 12, four other female Vietnamese athletes failed to win anymedal in the women’s 48 kg, 53kg, 55kg and 60 kg categories.
This year’s event saw competition of athletes from Asian countries andterritories, including the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Uzbekistan,Vietnam, India, among others.
According to Nguyen The Long, head of thewrestling department of the Vietnam Sports Administration, the event is a preparationfor the 2018 Asian Games, which will be held in Indonesia.- VNA
Vu Thi Hang of Hanoi came home with a silver medal in the women’s 48kg freestyle wrestling at the 2013 Asia wrestling championships which wrap up in New Delhi , India on April 22.
Vietnam grabbed one gold and one silver medals at the Asian Junior Wrestling Championships 2015 held in Myanmar from July 9-12 for 18-20 year old wrestlers.
Vietnam's Vu Thi Hang has been ruled out of the women’s 48kg wrestling event on Aug 17 by a recurring injury, leaving Nguyen Thi Lua as the last one of VN's delegation to compete at the Rio Games.
