Hanoi (VNA)🍌 - Vietnam won three gold medals at the two-day Taiwan Athletics Open on May 19.

Hoang Thi Ngoc finished in the women’s 400m event with a time of 53.79sec. Malaysian Shereen Samson Vallabouy and Nurul Faizah Asma Mazlan came second and third, respectively.
Earlier, Vu Thi Ly triumphed in the women’s 1500m category, with a time of 4:30.27. Son Hui Kim and Chun Mi Kim, all from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, took silver and bronze. The last gold went to Duong Van Thai who won the men’s 1,500m. The Vietnamese team also pocketed a silver in the women’s long jump.
Bui Thi Thu Thao came second with a result of 6.12m, much worse than her gold medal result of 6.59m that she had in Singapore last month. Parinya Chuaimaroeng of Thailand bagged her gold with only 1cm longer than Thao. Host Huang Shih-han earned the bronze, jumping 5.94m.-VNA

ꦺ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
