In track and field, Vietnamdominated the women’s 400-metre event with a one-two finish. Nguyen ThiHuyen came in first place in the women’s 400-metre event after crossingthe finish line with a personal best of 52 seconds.
Quach Thi Lan took the silver with 52.52 seconds and VallabouyShereen Samson of Malaysia clinched the bronze with 54.26.
In the men’s event, however, Quach Cong Lich and his expectations for gold have yet to come to fruition.
Lich was passed by Thai Sukkaew Kunanon in the last metre of themen’s 400-metre race despite enjoying a comfortable lead entering thestraight.
Sukkaew finished first with 46 seconds, just 0.02 seconds ahead of Lich who had to settle for a silver.
Alejan Edgardo Jr. of Philippines took the bronze medal for 47.08.
Shooting yielded a gold medal from Le Nghia, who beat Chen Soong Fook of Malaysia 12-10 in the final.
Taekwondo also won their second gold medal with a victory in the women’s team poomsae event.-VNA
