Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Ge🦩n. Hoang Xuan Chien met with visiting French Secretary of State for Veterans an꧋d Memory Patricia Miralles in Hanoi on May 5.

Chien said Miralles's ongoing visit to Vietnam is of importance, reflecting the spirit of reconciliation, "closing the past, looking towards the brighter future"; and the development cooperation between the two countries and their people.
He noted that since the 3rd Vietnam-France strategic and defence cooperation dialogue in December 2023, the collaboration has been effectively implemented based on the two countries’ 2024 defence cooperation programme, aligning with relating directions agreed upon by their defence leaders. Chien proposed that in the time to come, both sides should focus on promoting cooperation in sharing war memories, including the collection of documents and historical materials to compile education documents, the exchange of war information and remembrances, and the organisation of joint seminars on historical topics. Agreeing with her host’s suggestions regarding cooperation in sharing war memories, Miralles thanked the Vietnamese side for its invitation to French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu and her to visit Vietnam./.
