Hanoi (VNA) – Ensuring stable supplyof electricity for businesses in major industrial parks is an important task forthe power sector and particularly the National Power Transmission Corporationof the Electricity of Vietnam (EVNNPT) to attract more foreign investors inVietnam.
Recently, Director General of Samsung DisplayVietnam Kweon Yuong Chan sent thank-you letters to Vietnam’s Ministry ofIndustry and Trade, EVNNPT, Power Transmission Company N01 and Northern VietnamPower Projects Management Board for their efforts to ensure safety whileproviding electricity for businesses at Yen Phong industrial park in the northernprovince of Bac Ninh.
According to the Provincial CompetitivenessIndex (PCI) 2017 announced by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 74percent of enterprises said they were satisfied with the provision ofelectricity. The proportion in the previous year was 69 percent.
Vietnam has attracted a lot of foreign directinvestment (FDI) in recent years, resulting in high demand for electricity atindustrial parks. In the first quarter of 2018, the disbursement of FDIprojects was estimated at 5.8 billion USD.
In the northern region, Bac Ninh with dozens ofindustrial parks has become the most attractive foreign investment destination.The Samsung Complex in the province includes two companies, namely SamsungElectronics Vietnam and Samsung Display Vietnam, located at Yen Phongindustrial park and consuming the most electricity.
The electricity sector in the central region isalso working to ensure power supply for major projects including the steelproduction project of Hoa Phat company at Dung Quat Economic Zone in Quang Ngaiprovince and the installation of a 220kV power station at Nhon Trach industrialpark in Vung Tau city.-VNA
The National Power Transmission Corporation plans to disburse over 18.1 trillion VND (797.6 million USD) to finish and put into operation 62 projects and start construction of 43 projects in 2018.
