Vietnam eliminates over 195,000 substandard houses

Vietnam has so far replaced 195,068 makeshift and dilapidated houses, including 20,444 for people who rendered service to the revolution, 62,116 under two national target programmes, and 112,508 under the campaign on elimination of substandard houses.

Hanoi (VNA)♑ – Vietnam has so far replaced 195,068 makeshift and dilapidated houses across the country, the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs announced on April 13.

Of these, 93,370 houses have been completed, while construction has begun on 101,698 others. The total includes 20,444 homes for people who rendered service to the revolution, 62,116 under two national target programmes, and 112,508 under the campaign on elimination of substandard houses.
According to the ministry, from April 5-11, three more localities – Tay Ninh, Tuyen Quang and Lang Son - decided to consolidate the provincial Steering Committees for elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
Notably, the Ministry of Public Security has given 131 billion VND (5.06 million USD) to support the northern province of Cao Bang in this effort. Thus, the ministry has completed the handover of funds to Gia Lai and Cao Bang provinces as assigned by the central steering committee. It also mobilised more than 200 billion VND to support other localities in the Central Highlands, northwestern and southwestern regions. Localities nationwide are accelerating the progress to complete the work ahead of schedule. Typically, Can Tho city strives to complete it before April 25 and Vinh Long province by May 10./.
