Vietnam, Cuba seek measures to enhance bilateral ties

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham BinhMinh held phone talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla onMarch 16 to discuss measures and orientations to further special friendship andcooperation between the two countries.
During the talks, Minh affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policyof standing shoulder-to-shoulder with and supporting Cuba.
Minister Bruno, in turn, said that Cuba attaches importanceto and hopes to deepen its special friendship and comprehensive cooperationwith Vietnam. He appreciated Vietnam’s efforts to both respond to the COVID-19pandemic and maintain economic growth.
Both sides spoke highly of the outcomes of sixth PoliticalConsultation at the deputy foreign ministerial level held via video conferenceon March 2.
They asserted the determination to carry out high-level commitmentsto tightening bilateral solidarity, special friendship and all-roundcollaboration, and effectively implement the bilateral agenda in 2021,including sharing experience and consultations on issues of mutual concern,coordinating closely and supporting each other at international organisationsand multilateral forums./.
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Committee in Cuba held a ceremony on February 3 to lay a wreath at a bust of President Ho Chi Minh in Havana to mark the 91st anniversary of the Party.
The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held a conference in Hanoi on February 4 reviewing its 2020 work and outlining activities for 2021.

The 6th Vietnam-Cuba political consultation at the deputy foreign minister level was convened via videoconference on March 2, under the chair of Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Marcelino Medina Gonzalez.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.
