Vietnam-Cuba relations to thrive further for mutual development

Havana (VNA) – The Vietnam-Cuba relations willthrive further, contributing to the protection and construction of the two nations,said First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee andPresident of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel in his recent reception for outgoing VietnameseAmbassador Le Thanh Tung in Havana.
The Cuban leader lauded the sides’ loyal, practical, andeffective friendship so far and highlighted the role of high-level delegationexchanges and phone and virtual talks between their leaders and officials in strengtheningsuch ties.
He thanked Vietnam’s spiritual and material assistance forCuba in food production and sympathy and solidarity with Cuba given the currentdifficult period facing the Cuban revolution.
The leader extended his invitation for PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime MinisterPham Minh Chinh of Vietnam to soon visit Cuba, while his guest conveyed theVietnamese leaders’ invitation for him to visit Vietnam.

For his part, the ambassador reaffirmed the solidarity andsupport of the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people for Cuba. Vietnamconsistently calls on the US to end the unilateral embargo against Cuba and toremove Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
He congratulated Cuba on its recent victories on the foreignfront, with the United Nations General Assembly in early November passing a resolution on the necessity of ending the economic, commercial andfinancial embargo imposed by the US against Cuba, and the country being elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the2024-2026 term in October 2023.
Tung affirmed that he will continueto contribute to fortifying and developing the special relationship betweenVietnam and Cuba./.
It is very rare to find such special relations as the ties between the Parties, States, and people of Vietnam and Cuba, set up by Cuban national hero Jose Marti, President Ho Chi Minh, and President Fidel Castro and nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries.
The relationship of solidarity and trust between Vietnam and Cuba continues to grow strongly and become increasingly substantive and effective. Relations on all three channels of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people’s diplomacy are increasingly deepening. In addition, two-way economic-trade-investment relations are receiving greater attention.
Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Minister of National Defence, and visiting Sen. Lieut. Gen. Roberto Legra Sotolongo, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces held talks in Hanoi on October 24.

At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.

Vietnam is ready to work with the Chinese Party and State to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the building of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
