Vietnam claims 7 medals at int’l astronomy-astrophysics olympiad
Vietnam won a gold, three silver and three bronze medals as well as an honourable mention at the 13th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), which took place in Hungary from August 2 – 10.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam won a gold, three silver and three bronze medals as well asan honourable mention at the 13th International Olympiad on Astronomy andAstrophysics (IOAA), which took place in Hungary from August 2 – 10.
Thecompetition was participated by 254 contestants from 46 countries all over theworld. All eight Vietnamesestudents are from the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
The 2019 IOAAcomprises of four exams – Theoretical exam, Data analysis Exam, Teamcompetition and Observational exam in which questions concerning directobservation of the sky, in the real sky and in a planetarium.
The gold medalwent to Nguyen Manh Quan – a 11th grader – who was also honoured with anabsolute winner prize for his absolute scores.
The IOAA is an annual event for highly performed highschool students from all around the world. Established in Thailand 2006, it wasa joint initiative of five countries - Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, China andPoland, with the aim to popularise astronomy among high school students and tofoster friendship and cooperation among young astronomers at internationallevel. –VNA
Vietnam won two silver medals at the 11th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) which took place in Phuket, Thailand from November 12-21.
A team of five students from Hanoi have obtained four medals, including a gold, at the 12th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) held in Beijing, China, from November 3 to 11.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
