Beijing (VNA) - The fine development of the Vietnam-China ties overthe past time is a vivid proof for a stable and healthy relationship that meetscommon aspirations and brings practical benefits to the two peoples.

So said Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai in aninterview granted to the Vietnam News Agency about Foreign Minister Bui ThanhSon's visit to China from December 2-4.

To further promote the potential and strengths of the bilateralrelations, Mai suggested the two countries closely coordinate and implement thecommon perceptions of the two countries’ senior leaders as well as bilateralagreements fully and seriously.

In the context of complicated developments of the regionaland international situations and negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, friendshipand comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China maintains a gooddevelopment momentum.

According to him, collaboration in pandemic prevention and controlis a new bright spot in bilateral relations.

The two sides have maintained dialogue and negotiationchannels, made efforts to control disputes, and satisfactorily solved problemsarising at sea by peaceful means on the basis of international law, includingthe 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

At multilateral forums, Vietnam and China have activelycoordinated to promote peace, stability and cooperation in the region and theworld, and supported each other in joining international organisations.

However, the ambassador also pointed to several existingproblems in the bilateral relationship, including Vietnam’s big trade deficit,problems related to quality and construction progress of severalChinese-invested projects, and sea-related disputes.

He expressed his hope that Foreign Minister Son’s visit willhelp boost the growing Vietnam-China ties, continue realising the commonperceptions and implementing signed agreements, and motivate the bilateralcomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership./.
