Vietnam, Cambodia promote military information cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) - TheGeneral Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) always facilitates cooperationon information and communication between the Defence Ministries of Vietnam andCambodia, said Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the VPA Sen. Lieut. GenPham Hong Huong.
Huong made the affirmation during a reception on October 25 for General Phorn Nara,head of the Information Department under the Cambodian Ministry of Defence, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese officer said on the basis of the protocol on bilateral defencecooperation in 2015-2019 and the cooperation plan between the two countries’defence ministries for 2018, the cooperation has been implemented effectively, withinformation links greatly important.
According to Huong, in recent years, the information sector of the two armies have exchanged delegations, shared professionalexperience and worked together in personnel training.
In his reply, General Phorn Nara thanked the VPA for its support for the RoyalCambodian Army in recent years, especially in training human resources for the CambodianMinistry of Defence’s Information Department.
He expressed his admiration for the strong development of the VPA’s informationindustry. He also informed the host about the outcomes of his talks with MajorGeneral Khuc Dang Tuan, Commander of the Signal Corps.
Earlier the same day, in the working session between Major General Tuan and GeneralPhorn Nara, the two sides reviewed cooperation between the Signal Corps and theInformation Department of Cambodia in recent times, as well as shared theirexperience in terms of information, training cooperation and issues of commonconcern.
The two sides agreed the outcomes of the talks mark a new development step inthe relations between the two countries’ military information sectors.-VNA
