Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Assoc. seeks to expand role

In an effort to expand its role and promote friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) organised a meeting with the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region (SCSR) on June 6 in Can Tho City.
In an effort to expand its role and promote friendship between Vietnamand Cambodia, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA)organised a meeting with the Steering Committee for the SouthwesternRegion (SCSR) on June 6 in Can Tho City.

VuVuong Viet, Vice President of the VCFA said the goal of the meeting wasto seek the steering committee’s assistance in expanding theassociation’s network in southwest localities and developing ties withsouthern Cambodia provinces.

The two sidesdiscussed and agreed on the coordination agenda and pledged to workclosely in order to offer advice or recommendations to central agencieson cementing ties among provinces from the two countries.

The two agencies would coordinate in many sectors such as traininglabourers for Cambodia, addressing arising problems relating toVietnamese communities in Cambodia or conducting research on Khmerissues in the southern region.

The VCFA was formed in 1975 and has expanded to 30 provinces and cities with hundreds of thousands of members.-VNA
