
Ba Ria – Vung Tau (VNA) – Thesouth-eastern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau held a ceremony to celebrate the 25thanniversary of Vietnam-Azerbaijan diplomatic ties in Xuyen Moc district onSeptember 22.
The history of Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations wasmarked by the visit to Baku by President Ho Chi Minh in 1959 and the visit toVietnam by First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Union ofSoviet Socialist Republics Aliyev Heydar in 1983.
The two nations have overcome difficulties andchallenges over the past 25 years to reap significant achievements in allfields, thus raising their position in the region and around the world.
Azerbaijani people wholeheartedly supportedVietnam in the past and at present. The bilateral cooperation has becomefruitful in recent time, especially in the field of human resources training.
From the 1960s of the 20th century, Azerbaijaniuniversities and colleges helped Vietnam train about 4,000 scientists,educators, engineers, technicians and managerial officials.
New developments in the bilateral relations havebeen recorded since Azerbaijan established its embassy in Hanoi in 2013.
Particularly, the State-level visit to Vietnam by PresidentIlham Aliyev in May 2014 and the official visit to Azerbaijan by PresidentTruong Tan Sang in 2015 opened up a new chapter in their relations with thesigning of many important documents on the bilateral cooperation.
The rapports between Vietnamese and Azerbaijani States,Parties, parliaments and peoples are growing as well.
Chairman of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan FriendshipAssociation Nguyen Vu Khai said participants at the meeting discussed ways toboost the bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of oil and gas,training experts, and developing the respective distinctive products.
Three Azerbaijani universities were honouredwith the Vietnamese State’s Friendship Order in recognition of their activecontributions to improving human resources training in Vietnam as well asstrengthening solidarity and friendship between the two countries.-VNA
