Vietnam, Australia hold 15th round of human rights dialogue

The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Australia took place in Hanoi on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th round of theannual dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Australia took place inHanoi on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutualrespect.

Highly valuing the development of the Vietnam – Australiastrategic partnership, they shared information on achievements, difficultiesand challenges in promoting and ensuring human rights, discussed human rightsissues of common concern, focusing on law-governed State and legal reform,ensuring basic freedom rights and rights of the vulnerable groups.

Both sides explored measures to reinforce collaborationwithin the bilateral framework and at multilateral forums.

The Vietnamese delegation expressed interest in Australia’schallenges in ensuring human rights such as rights of the aboriginals andchildren, as well as balance between security demand and anti-terrorismactivities.

The two sides pledged to continue discussing issues ofinterest to narrow differences, thus raising mutual understanding and deepeningbilateral strategic partnership.-VNA
